I live on the border of Richfield and Minneapolis, and bike through Richfield to commute to work. My usual route includes Bloomington Ave, Diagonal/73rd St, and 12th Ave, and I am grateful for the recent improvements in Richfield for cyclists along this route. I choose to bike commute for the numerous benefits — staying fit, getting fresh air, saving money, preserving the environment, connecting with community (I’ve made friends on my ride!). I never regret a day I bike commute. I primarily city bike, but I discovered a love for mountain biking this summer. My favorite trail is River Bottoms in Bloomington. It’s hard to believe I’m in the city when I’m there. I’ve encountered deer, herons, even an eagle. I have participated in several organizations that support cycling including Richfield Bike Advocates and Free Bikes 4 Kids.
